Cyclone Sidr: the numbers of a tragedy

9,000 people and 2,000 families affected, more than 3,000 victims, hundred missing, more than 500,000 homes destroyed and almost one million damaged.
On November 15, 2007 Cyclone Sidr struck southern Bangladesh with devastating power. Its impact struck the country's economy a severe blow: more than 700,000 acres of farmland were completely destroyed and about 1.8 million tonnes of rice, in the fields and ready for harvesting, was lost.
